Head into the quarterfinals and defeated Raja Club Athletic of Morocco on 3-2 aggregates. Proceed into the semifinals with ES Setif {Algeria based club} which they immensely won on 6-2 aggregates on two-leg fixtures.
Wydad AC – The Moroccan side topped its group with 15 points [W5, L1] beating competition from two Angola giants – Atletico Petroleos de Luanda and Segrada Esperance respectively alongside Zamalek SC {based in Egypt}. Proceed into the quarterfinals to defeat CR Belouizdad of Algeria by a goal to nil then again in the semifinals on 4-2 aggregates against group stage contenders Atletico Petroleos de Luanda.
Meeting for the 9th time and as two finalists, who is winning?. Will Al Ahly seek revenge or Wydad, extend their turf as Champions once again at the expense of the Egyptian side?.
