Defending Ghana Rugby League Championship (GRLC) titleholders, Bulls Rugby League Club (RLC), kicked off their 2021 campaign with a 24-14 defeat to Accra Panthers in what was the highlight of the first week of action in the second edition of the competition.
The first half of the game was all for the Bulls as they were tactically superior and gained spaces in the defence of their opponents to make some good runs resulting in tries and points for their team.
The Panthers would however turn the game around after the first half break getting their rhythm together as the Bulls failed to replicate their first-half performance, allowing their opponents back into the game.
The Panthers would also pull some tactical and technical stunts in the second half to win the game with their jubilant coach Jafaru Mustapha saying that his team needed the first half to read the game and he was sure that his boys were going to win the game.
“My boys were not getting their flow in the first half. I read the game and gave a brief talk during the break. I was certain of winning.”
Meanwhile, the Captain of the losing side, Collins Ofosu expressed his disappointment with the outcome of the game and blamed it on complacency. “We are not happy with the outcome of the game, our players went to relax after the first half.”
