In the quest of FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifications, four fixtures took place in the CONCACAF Category, where Canada, Costa Rica, USA, and Mexico all emerged as winners. And as players’ performances are accounted for, I present to you, the team of the week after round 13.

Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico) Goalkeeper
The Club America shot-stopper was very comfortable in his area, assisting his teammates with long balls and helping his side clutch on a goal to nil without conceding against Honduras.
Sam Adekugbe (Canada) and Antonee Robinson (USA) Fullbacks
As wing backs, both duos showed great skills at their respective teams as they kept opposing defenders on their toes with brilliant overlapping skills, passes which Antonee ended up with two assists and Sam with five interceptions, three key passes, and a clean sheet.

Edson Alvarez (Mexico) and Walker Zimmerman (USA) Center-backs
Ajax star Edson showed great showmanship in Mexico’s midfield scoring the only goal against Honduras as his side affirm a place in Qatar. With anchoring skills, Edson will be used as a center-back partnering Walker Zimmerman who made seven clearances and won a penalty past Panama in a 5-1 victory.
Junior Hoilett (Canada) and Hector Herrera (Mexico) Defensive-midfield
Starred in Canada’s defensive midfield, Hoilett brought dynamism to the midfield, supporting and taking part in the attacking and defending plays which got him a goal and the perfect candidate in his role pairing Hector Herrera. The Mexican had great touches along with several key passes and accuracy, earning him an assist as his side won by a goal to nil.

Tajon Buchanan (Canada) Central-midfield
Flourished in Canada’s flanks with a goal and an assist alongside five shots, Tajon Buchanan will drop to the central midfield due to his Box-to-Box plays to take charge of the distributing of passes and space creation.

Christian Pulisic (USA) and Anthony Contreras (Costa Rica) Wingers
Missed a big opportunity in a goalless draw against Mexico, the Chelsea Winger came fully charged against Panama with a Hattrick as a false winger causing disruption and upsetting rival defense force. Contreras also came through for Costa Rica as they escape 2-1 against El Salvador. He had a great game cutting into open space and creating a scoring opportunity which earn him a goal along with three shots on goal and six received fouls.

Joel Campbell (Costa Rica) Center-forward
Hold up and led his team to secure a 2-1 victory against El Salvador, Campbell leads this team attacking force with his passing skills and shooting techniques.
