Days ago, former Black Stars of Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan whose debut stretched to nine, hinted at how the senior national team have been unfair to him [both the current and previous handlers] for years since his last debut on 14 November 2012, although actively playing in the Italy Serie A as a regular starter for years now and tactician of the current team Otto Addo has spoken his side of the story following the issue of discrimination at hand alleged by the 29-year-old midfielder.
The current handler of the national team, Otto Addo disclosed to the media per reports on myjoyonline that, he once called the 29-year-old midfielder and invited him to the national team back in February when they were on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup against Nigeria in a playoff [but] Alfred Duncan declined and he [Otto Addo] had to accept his decision.
Otto Addo’s own words to the media – “The last time I called him was in February, we had a good talk, I wanted to invite him, [but] he told me the reasons he didn’t want to come and I had to accept it. It was hard for me to understand because he had the opportunity to maybe join the team which was going to the World Cup but he has his decisions and I have to accept it“.
To recall the Black Stars of Ghana, defeated Nigeria in March on away goals rule to qualify for Qatar 2022 without the involvement of the 29-year-old midfielder and as it stands the team are on the lookout to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations {AFCON} as well ahead of group counterparts Angola, Madagascar and Central African Republic.
