Frenkie de Jong has finally agreed to talk toManchester United. Negotiations between Barca and United started off badly, as the team from Manchester did not make a good enough offer. However, ‘Sky Sports’ claims that the Dutch midfielder is in talks to join Old Trafford.
‘The Telegraph’ similarly claim that an agreement between the two clubs has been reached for 69 million pounds. This figure is higher than those which had previously been leaked, so it makes sense why Joan Laporta has accepted the offer.
All that remains is for the central midfielder to agree terms with the ‘red devils’. It is likely that Frenkie will be given key player status, as United’s new manager is his compatriot Erik ten Hag. He knows him well and wanted the player to be a part of the new era at the historic English club who have been declining in recent times.
From Barcelona’s point of view, this sale – if completed – will fund the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. Negotiaions with Bayern Munich are tough, but with a fresh 80 million in the bank, ‘los cules’ would have much more leeway to satisfy the Bavarians.
