Emerged champions in the Moldova Divizia Nationala league last season which guaranteed UEFA Champions League qualification round for 2022-23, FC Sheriff Tiraspol are through to the next stage after beating Bosnia giants at home- which starred former Asante Kotoko player.
The Moldovian giants defeated Zrinjski today at home in the second round of fixtures by a goal to nil following a goalless draw in the first leg in Bosnia featuring two Ghanaian players- Patrick Kpodo and former Ashanti Kotoko shot-stopper Razak Abalora.
Both players sighted the entire duration of the game contributing immensely to the club’s progress to the next stage.
Razak Abalora, 25, was the first-team choice in the post and again recorded another clean sheet to help his side [Sheriff Tiraspol] clinch victory -his second UEFA Champions League debut.
Likewise, international mate Patrick Kpodo marshalled the left-back with top-notch performance.
Abalora swaying high in the Europe scene joined the “Yellow-Blacks” in January 2022 for a reported fee of €50k and less than a season taking the lead role in the goal post.
Sheriff Tiraspol through to the next phase of the competition will take on the winner between Maribor and Shakhtyor Soligorsk and the Ghanaian duo will be hoping for the best.
