In a short ceremony at the Trust Sports Emporium on Tuesday 15th December 2020, Winbase Promotions completed the signing of two very interesting boxers in lightweight Benjamin “Daddy Lumba” Lamptey and flyweight Mohammed “The Golden Boy” Aryeetey.
Lamptey is the more experienced of the two fighters signed by the promotion having a total of 15 fights under his belt with a record of 10 victories, 4 defeats and a single tie. So what makes the 32-year-old’s signing interesting? Well, all his 4 defeats came in his last 4 bouts meaning that he is currently in poor form and it doesn’t seem like he would be a good investment but CEO of Winbase Promotions, Edwin Evans Jnr, believes the lightweight will come good.
“Daddy Lumba is a great boxer he’s had a lot of experience in the national amateur boxing team which is the Black Bombers and we’ve seen his performance against Sherrif Quaye [19-2, 12 KOs], even though the outcome was debatable, we were still very highly impressed with the show that he put forth.”
“We feel signing him would add onto our team, help project Winbase Promotions and also help take his career to the next level by giving him the push that we feel he needs to get a National title, an African title and ultimately a World title.”
On the other side of the spectrum, Mohammed Aryeetey signs his first-ever professional contract with Winbase Promotions. The 17-year-old has been making waves on the Ghana amateur scene, even being adjudged the best boxer in the elite category of the second edition of the McDan Boxing Series back in 2019 and Winbase Promotions CEO Edwin Evans Jnr. seems extremely excited by the signing.
“Mohammed Aryeetey has been an outstanding amateur boxer over the past years, in fact, he has grown from a very skilful juvenile boxer up until the amateur stages. He is actually a member of the Black Bombers and he is one of the top contenders within that team.”
“With the wealth of talent he possesses and how he has distinguished himself among his peers, the team felt it was the right time for us to take up other challenges and this translates into us moving him into the professional space in anticipation that he would also give a good account of himself and dominate.” Edwin further stated
The fighters are also confident after signing for Winbase Promotions with Lamptey revealing that he is confident of challenging for titles under the promotion’s banner “With him [Edwin Evans Jnr] I believe him, I know what he can do for me, so I’d like to thank him a lot for signing me and maybe from next year going they will see a different Daddy Lumba, they will hear Daddy Lumba’s name and maybe things will change.”
“The Golden Boy” Mohammed Ayreetey also commented on his signing: “I started boxing at a very early age and my focus and my mindset are to get to world-class at a very early age. I don’t want to talk a lot but Edwin the CEO of Winbase Promotions he met me at a very early age so he is working on my plans and my ideas that I have and my determination and hard work is really pushing him into helping me to get wherever God has wished me to go.”
