Kumasi Asante Kotoko managed a one-all draw against West African Football Academy (WAFA) Sporting Club in the matchday 26 fixture at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
The Porcupines opened the scoring in the 5th minute through the spot-kick from the skipper of the side Ismael Ganiyu after Andy Kumi Francis was fouled in the penalty box.
The defender scored his fourth goal of the season for the Porcupines after WAFA shot-stopper Kwadwo Osei Bonsu failed to save the ball.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko failed to capitalize on the lead in the first half when Augustine Okrah had to be substituted due to injury with Samuel Frimpong replacing the in-form winger.
WAFA striker Justus Torsutsey later equalized in the 46th minute, his fourth goal for the Sogakope side with a fine header, assisted by a cross by Atte Youssifou.
Coach Prosper Ogum’s side showed a lot of attack in the dying embers of the game but failed to find another goal past Felix Annan who returned in place of Razak Abalora.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will now move to second on the table with 46 points, with a goal difference separating their arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak going into the matchday 27.
