La Liga Santander Team of the Week-2 As Ansu Fati Named Star Player
With the La Liga Santander’s round 2 wrapped on Monday, here is the latest Team of the Week update.
Goalkeeper
Geronimo Rulli (Villarreal)
One of this week’s four shot-stoppers to have kept a clean sheet, Rulli was named in goal post following his satiable performance against Atletico Madrid – Made saves of 5 and 2 high claims.
Defenders
Yeray Alvarez (Athletic), Raul Albiol and Juan Foyth (Villarreal)
Top-level defensive displays – the trio emerged best defenders this week as they kept a clean sheet respectively.
Starred in the defence of Athletic Club, Alvarez was monstrous to Valencia – made the most clearances (10) alongside great interceptions to hand side their first win of the season courtesy of Alex Berenguer’s lone goal.
Paired in a four-man defensive unit against Atletico Madrid, Albiol and Foyth were the standout performers as they made up the best joint clearance (15) and pass accuracy of 98% to place Villarreal on the pile of the table.
Midfielders
Pedri (Barcelona), Anuar (Valladolid), Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric (Madrid)
Real Madrid shinning knights Vinicius and Modric made the team of the week- pairs Pedri and Anuar in midfield.
Vinicius and Modric were inseparable against Celta Vigo – involved in all goals scored (a goal and an assist each).
Pedri was on top of his game – coordinated and fluidised teammates with passes and creativity to seal off their first win of the season against Sociedad.
Anuar, on the other hand, was his side hero as his goal earned Valladolid their best result of the season against Sevilla.
Forwards
Ansu Fati, Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) and King-in Lee (Mallorca)
Three lead attackers – Barcelona duo Ansu Fati and Robert Lewandowski were named alongside Mallorca star Kang-in Lee whose attacking prowess against Real Betis were remarkable, earning him an assist.
Failed to make the score-sheet on his first debut, Lewandowski hopped on a brace. Likewise, Fati’s- “the Catalans” revelation as his goal and two assists as a substitute helped defeat Sociedad.
