Ghanaian super welterweight Habib “Wild Hurricane” Ahmed [27-2, 18 KOs] was knocked out after two rounds in his World Boxing Association (WBA) World Super Welterweight title eliminator clash against undefeated American Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora [16-0, 11 KOs] on Sunday 6th December 2020 at the at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA.

The bout which was scheduled for 12 rounds saw 22-year-old Fundora completely dominate his opponent (who is the most experienced fighter he has faced so far in his career) throughout the first round in what was a one-sided affair before Ahmed’s trainer, Herman Caicedo instructed a Texas commission official to stop the bout at the one and a half minute (1:30) mark of the second round.

Fundora was initially set to face Jorge Cota [30-4, 27 KOs] but the Mexican was replaced three days to the fight after testing positive for COVID-19. He was replaced by 30-year-old Ahmed who was on standby in case either Cota or Fundora tested positive for the virus.

This was Wild Hurricane’s first-ever bout as a super welterweight (weighing 152½ pounds Friday 4th December 2020) having previously fought in the middleweight division (never weighing lower than 159½ pounds for a professional fight) against the likes of Gilberto Ramirez [40-0, 26 KOs] who he fought and lost the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) World Super Middleweight title.

The Ahmed vs. Fundora fight was on the undercard of the much anticipated Errol Spence Jr. [27-0, 21 KOs] World Boxing Council (WBC) world welterweight and International Boxing Federation (IBF) world welterweight title defence against Danny Garcia [36-3, 21 KOs] which saw 30-year-old Spence Jr. successfully defend his titles in a Unanimous Decision (UD) victory.
